Blanket Flower "Dazzler" (gaillardia aristata) 
   

P.  Large yellow open-faced flowers with red centres - truly dazzling!  Ht 75 cm.

Bluebell 
   

P.  Lovely blue bell flowers mid-spring, carpeting woods and other shady areas.  Bulb origin - Aldington, Kent.

Columbine 
   

P.  Also known as Granny Bonnets because the flowers resemble old-fashioned bonnets.  Ht 2 - 3 ft (60 - 90 cm).  Flowers June to July.  Bee plant.  Large flowers, many colours.  More info

Columbine "William Guinness" 
   

P.  Striking black-purple flowers with white hearts.  Also known as Magpie Columbine.  Ht 18 - 24 ins.  Flowers late spring to early summer.  Sun or partial shade.

Cupid's Dart (catananche caerulea) 
   

P wildflower of southern Europe and North Africa but would look at home in a cottage garden.  Looks very much like a cornflower with its blue flower from July to September.  Ht 2 ft (60 cm).  Used by the ancients in love charms and as an aphrodisiac - hence its name.
