Comfrey, Dwarf (symphytum officinalis)

P.  Small Comfrey with mauve, pink or cream flowers.  Also known as Boneset and Knitbone.  Made into poultices for bruises and broken bones.  Leaves produce a yellow dye when boiled.  Butterfly and moth caterpillar food plant.   Can be made into a useful liquid fertiliser.  Ht about 3 ft.  Likes shade and damp.  1 left

Curry plant

P.  Shrubby herb with thin grey leaves that really do smell of curry.  Small yellow flowers.  Plant in sun.

 

 

 

Dyers Chamomile (anthemis tinctoria)

P.  Very hardy.  Height about 60 cm with lots of yellow flowers, from which a yellow dye can be obtained.  Spreads.

Fennel (foeniculum vulgare)

Very frondy, tall herb with flat panicles of yellow flowers, very attractive to hoverflies.  Not the bulbous Florence  Fennel.  Leaves can be added to cooking.

Fennel, Bronze

Ornamental plant that looks amgnificent at the back of a border.  Height about 6 ft.  Exactly the same looking as Fennel except leaves are browny-bronze.
