Perennial. Penstemon = "with 5 stamens". Attractive to hoverflies and bumblebees.
Plant in sun or partial shade. Look good in large clumps. Flowers from mid-summer to mid-autumn.
Barbatus "Cambridge Mix"
Grey-green foliage and spikes of pink, rose, blue and purple Foxglove-like flowers. Height 1 ft (30 cm). Look just as good in tubs as in the border. Flowers all summer.
Blue Buckle (penstemon virgatus)
Lavender-blue flowers.
Jingle Bells
Ht 90 cm. Scarlet red flowers. Honey bee food plant. Flowers June to August.
