LEMON VERBENA (LIPPI CITRIODORA)

Perennial. Grows to 5 ft. Has long narrow leaves which are highly scented of lemon, and small lilac or white flowers in summer. Introduced to this country in 1784. Deciduous. Native to Argentina and Chile. Victorians called it the Lemon Plant.

Can be used in fruit dishes, baking, pot pourri, bath water - gather leaves at flowering time. It is also anti-spasmodic for dyspepsia, indigestion and wind. Mild sedative, relieves nervous tension. Bacteriacide for acne and boils.

Protect from frost. In colder areas it is best grown as a pot plant which can be brought inside over winter.
