Lamb's Ears (stachys lanata) 
   

HP.  White woolly leaves and deep rose flowers.  Ht 1 ft (30 cm) or so.



Leopard's Bane (doronicum magnificum) 
   
HP.  Large, yellow daisy-type flowers and heart-shaped leaves.  Flowers April and May.  Ht 18 - 20 ins.  Popular cottage garden plant.  Flowers are long-lasting when cut.  Any soil, sun or partial shade.

A.  Masses of thin leaves and loads of myulti-coloured flowers.

London Pride (saxifraga x urbium) 
   

Traditional cottage garden plant.  P.  Rosettes of serrated leaves from which emerge tall stems of white flowers

Morning Glory, Dwarf "Royal Ensign" (convolvulus) 
   
A.  Low-growing plant with large vivid blue trumpet like flowers.

Nemophilia "Penny Black" 
   

A.  Divided leaves and startling deep purple, alomst black, flowers with a white edge.  Forms a low-clump and flowes all summer.

Painted Sage (salvia horminum) 
   
A.  Very long-flowering.  Masses of pink to blue flowers, look almost tie-dyed!

Penstemon "Jingle Bells" 
   

P.  Scarlet bell-shaped flowers from June to August.  Ht 1.3 metres.

Perennial Wallflower (erysimum) "Little Kiss" 
   

P.  Lanceolate leaves and bunches of lilac flowers.  Very pretty.  Bushy.  Ht 2 ft (60 cm).  Sun.



Persian Cornflower (centaurea dealbata) 
   

HP.  Deep rose-pink coloured flowers froom May to July, rather like cornflowers.  Silver-hued foliage.  Ht 15 - 18 ins.  Sun.

Phlox "Twinkle Star" 
   
A.  Clump forming with masses of pretty star shaped flowers in many colours.

Primula japonica "Millers Crimson" 
   

P.  Crimson red primrsoe flowers.  Ht 50 cm.  Flowers May to June.

Purple Mullein (verbascum phoenicium) 
   
P.  Large, dark green leaves and spires of purple flowers.  Ht 3 ft or so.

Purple-top Vervain (verbena bonariensis) 
   

P.  Clump-forming with square stems and clusters of purple flowers.  Looks good amongst other plants so the tall stems can poke through.  Ht 4 - 6 ft.  Butterfly plant.

Red Hot Poker (kniphofia uvaria) 
   

P.  Large sword-like leaves form a large clump from which emerge thick stems topped with red and orange flowers that look just like the end of a hot poker.  Ht 2 - 3 ft (60 - 90 cm).  Butterfly plant.

Rose Campion (lychnis coronaria) 
   

HP.  Soft grey-green downy leaves and tall stems with vivid cerise flowers.  Ht to about 3 ft (90 cm).  Flowers mid to late summer.  Excellent border plant.  



Rose Campion (lychnis coronaria) "oculata" 
   

HP.  Soft, downy grey-green leaves and stems with white flowers with a pink "eye".  Very striking.
