Perennial member of the Mint family. Grey-green leaves and spikes of blue flowers - very nice-looking plant. Plant has a strong liquorice-mint smell and is not a Hyssop at all! Good bee and butterfly plant.

Leaves can be used in salads and teas. Its main medicinal use is for relief of colds, flu, bronchitis and catarrh. Contains marrubin (which is also found in White Horehound), which makes it a good expectorant. Indeed, North American Indians used the leaves s a cough medicine. It also has digestive and anti-viral properties and is good for cold sores. Use externally for burns, bruises and infection.

Plant is sun. Makes a good hedge.
