Perennial member of the Pea family. Also known as Bacon and Eggs and Birds Claws (in fact, the plant has over 70 folk names). Grows amongst grass and can reach 16 inches high. Produces dainty, yellow, pea-like flowers from May to October.


Bee, butterfly and moth plant. Food plant of the Common Blue butterfly, Chalk Hill Blue, Clouded Yellow, Dingy Skipper, Green Hair Streak, Marbled White, Small Pearl, Pearl Bordered Fritillary, Pale-clouded Yellow, Silver Spotted Skipper and Wood White buterflies. Moths - Burnet, Belted Beauty, Chalk Carpet and Latticed Heather.
