Perennial wildflower with thin leaves and tall stems topped with ragged pink flowers. Also known as Shaggy Jacks. Grows to a foot or so high. Found in the wild in damp meadows and wood margins. Flowers May to July. Good for pondside.
Good butterlfy plant, particularly popular with white butterflies and the Common Blue. It is the food plant of long-tongued bumblebees and the Campion, Lychnis, Twin Spot Carpet and Marbled Clover moths.
